Last Day of School

Well, today was our last official day in school before we leave for the DR!! (We have tomorrow off to do last minute packing and all the other million and one things we still have to do before Thursday morning.) It was a great day today and we got a lot accomplished...and I think we all feel just a little bit more ready to go. We finished packing up the final beanie babies and matchbox cars that trickled in today...and we packed up all of the DC shirts that came in too. All 77 of them!!! Yes! God answered our prayers, not only providing our goal -- but He even threw in 7 extra tshirts as an added bonus! Yay God!!

In addition to getting everything packed, weighed and tagged today, we also put some finishing touches to the skits that we have been preparing for our ministry time. We are divided up into three drama teams and each group created, practiced and will perform three skits at the El Arca and Palo Blanco. We will even have an opportunity to perform a couple of them in chapel at Logos Christian School on Friday. (Please pray for that. We still aren't 100% sure what we are going to do for chapel yet...)

We also had some "sharing time" today in class about a variety of topics: what the Lord has been teaching us, some of our apprehensions, understanding some things about Dominican culture, some things to expect, etc. Our "repeat" team members who have already been on one of our DR trips before shared some of their own experiences from past years and answered some questions that the new team members had in order to help them feel a little more at ease.

Another thing we did today was SING!! Ever since J-term started, we've been singing one of my favorite Spanish kids songs (we call it "The Crocodile Song") and last week we even taught it to our little elementary classes who are praying for us while we are gone. Since "El Cocodrilo" is pretty well mastered by now, I taught the students a new one today called "Música en mi Corazón" ("Music In My Heart.") That's a fun one too! One of the Logos leaders, Esdras (the crazy one! ha!) has many other fun songs that we will learn and sing with the kids once we get to Jarabacoa....but at least we've got a jump start on knowing a couple of them in advance. Just one more step towards being ready and excited for our minstry with the kids. It won't be long now...
