We're Here!!!! We had a great and as close to perfect travel day today! We began our day meeting at the airport at 4:15am. A smooth check in. Doughnuts and juice for breakfast. Hugs from moms and dads. Security check point. Boarded the plane and took off at 6am. Some of the team chatted the whole way there. Some fell asleep fast (that was me!) Before we knew it, we were landing in Atlanta and in search of food. Oddly we had chinese, pizza or Arby's at 9am, but we liked it. (Good thing too since they didn't feed us on our next flight.) Our layover went by quickly and soon we were boarding the plane. Unfortunately, we took off 30 minutes late....but they made the time up as we flew and we landed in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on time at 2:15pm (DR time.) Customs was a breeze....and very soon after, we were greeted by 22 cheering Dominican teenagers on the other side of the gate. A fourty five minute bus ride followed and our two teams started the process of getting to know one another and bonding together. English and Spanish chatter filled the bus the whole way there! Upon arrival at the school, the team met their host families and headed to their homes. The team seemed calm and excited to meet these people who will become their Dominican families! I have spoken with several of them by phone tonight....some have been to the mall, some have been chillin in their homes, some have already been able to call home and update their facebook statuses! I'd say it's been a great start to our trip!!
As for tomorrow, it looks like a fun yet busy day. We begin at 7:15am doing chapel for Logos Christian School. The skit and mime teams will be performing, two team members will be sharing their testimonies, and we will be worshipping together in English and Spanish. After chapel, we will be taking a tour of the city, eating at a Dominican fast food restaurant and shopping at the market. The evening will take us all to the home of one of the Logos students where we will hang out and get to know each other even more. Yep, sounds like a great day to me!
Below are some snapshots from our day today...

I am so glad you all made it safely. I am praying for you all. God bless you. :)
