Today's Prayer Focus

Today is a very exciting day for the team. The students start their day very early at Logos. Thankfully, having had an early arrival into the country they should be nice and rested! Once they arrive at the school the students prepare for chapel. Each year is a little different, but usually it consists of introducing our students to the children of Logos, a testimony from one of the Dayton students as well as a performance from the Dayton team.

After chapel is a trip to a local bank for the students to exchange their American money into pesos. The exchange rate can change any time during the day, but currently I see an exchange rate of 36 pesos to 1 american dollar. Exchanging money can be humorous to watch because a student will go to exchange $100 and leave with 3,600 pesos which seems like so much more than it is because you're holding so much cash. It's very cute to see the "first timers" walk away with so much loot!

Once the kids get their Dominican money it's time for a bus tour of Santo Domingo!! The streets are busy, filled with a lot of people and back to back traffic. If you hear a car honk---you betta move it!!! It's quite an experience to drive in such chaos when we are used to things being so orderly. The students get to see the Columbus lighthouse where the annual team pyramid photo is taken--and as much as they groan, they LOVE it!!

Now, time for shopping!!! The students end their day in the city with a trip to the market. Every year we go to the same market so some of the team knows it well. The students are introduced to bartering and it's so much fun! If I remember correctly, Devin and Lauren were on it last year....bartering like crazy and getting some great deals!! Woot!! :) It's always a fun experience and they love getting back on the bus and doing Allison's "show and tell" as they drive on to the next destination-lunch at Pollo Victorina which is very similar to our Chic Fil A...it's SO good!

The day ends back at the school and home to their host family for a little recovery time! This evening there is a get together at one of the Logos students homes for a little team bonding and getting to know each other.

All in all it's a very long day, but one that is enjoyable for sure! However they will need prayer. As much fun as they have it does get exhausting constantly being on the go! So keep that in your prayers!! Your children with be so incredibly blessed by this journey!!
